Frequently Asked Questions
Q. I'm unfamiliar with the concept of a residential massage studio. What should I expect?
A. Venturing into a residential massage studio may initially seem odd if you're accustomed to spa or clinical settings. However, it's important to know that professional quality remains consistent in these home-based studios. Many therapists prefer this model as it significantly reduces overhead costs and eliminates any third-party fees, resulting in more affordable rates without compromising service quality. By choosing a residential studio, you can benefit from a customized experience tailored to your preferences, including adjustable lighting, music, and aromas, all contributing to a uniquely personal and relaxing massage session.
Q. How can I schedule an appointment?
A. You can book an in-studio appointment on-line or just send me a message and I can book your appointment for you. For remote services please send me a message to arrange. Please contact me through Instagram, facebook or whatsapp or e-mail.
Q. What are your remote services?
A. The remote services I offer mirror the massage treatments available in my studio, providing the same high-quality experience. The advantage of choosing a remote service is the comfort and convenience of having me bring the service directly to you. You must have an adequate space to set up the massage table and space to manoeuvre around. If your space is not located on the ground floor, an elevator must be available. However, one set of stairs is acceptable, though assistance might be necessary. Please note, remote services cannot be booked online; they are exclusively available through direct messaging.
Q. Do I get a massage for the full about of time that I booked.
A. Yes, the time provided is the duration you'll spend on the table. The consultation before your massage is complimentary and won't be included in your massage duration. However, we request that you complete the consultation form before your initial massage session.
Q. What if I am late arriving to my appointment?
A. Please arrive on time for your appointment. Time for your appointment has been specially arranged for you. If you arrive late your session may be shortened in order to accommodate others whose appointments follow yours. We understand that sometimes life can get in the way but we will do our best to provide you with the services you have booked, but we cannot guarantee the full time if you arrive late. Full payment for your booked services will be expected.
Q. How do I can cancel my appointment.
A. If you need to cancel your appointment please give at least 24 hours notice. You can cancel by sending a message.
Q. How accessible is your massage studio?
A. There is one step into the property followed by one flight of stairs (14 steps) to the massage studio. Should stairs pose a difficulty for you, I can arrange in advance to prepare a serene space on the ground floor.
Q. What form of payment do you accept?
A. I accept cash, credit or debit card and contactless payments. Payment links can also be sent should you be required or prefer to pay before your appointment.
Q. Should I tip?
A. Tipping is not required but if you are happy with your massage and would like to leave a tip please just tell your therapist to add it on prior to payment. 100% of your tip goes to your therapist.
Q. What is your qualification?
A. I hold a level 3 diploma in massage therapy, including anatomy & physiology. This diploma is accredited by ITEC (International Therapy Examination Council).
Q. Are you insured and registered.
A. Yes I am registered with the Federation of Holistic Therapists. Membership number 218028. I also hold an insurance policy that has been arrange by the FHT exclusively for massage therapists.
Q. What to expect when come for your massage treatment?
A. Upon arrival, your massage therapist will warmly welcome you and guide you to the studio. Initially, you will have a brief consultation session where your massage plan will be outlined for you. Following the consultation, your therapist will step out for a short while, giving you privacy to undress and prepare for your massage. If needed, your therapist can assist you onto the table, or if you prefer, you may get onto the table independently. Before re-entering the studio, your therapist will knock. The massage session will commence at this juncture.
Q. Should I take off my underwear when I get a massage?
A. This depends on your comfort level and personal preferences many people prefer to be completely nude when they receive a massage, while others prefer to keep their undergarments on. It's completely up to you, and you are encouraged to undress to your level of comfort. Please remember that being draped with a towel will always preserve your modesty.
Undergarments can sometimes get in the way of the massage, especially if your problem areas are the low-back, buttocks, or hips. Women usually remove their bras so no straps are in the way of back and shoulder massage. It’s also important to remember that oil is used during your massage and it may get on your underwear.
Q. What if there’s something I don’t like or enjoy?
A. You are encouraged to openly communicate with the massage therapist about your preferences and comfort. If anything needs to be adjusted, or if we are almost (but not quite) getting the right spot, just speak up and let us know right away! Lots of people don’t like certain parts of their body being touched so please just tell us.
In terms of pressure, it is a myth that massage therapy needs to hurt to be effective. Some of the most effective techniques involve very light, gentle touch. But, please let us know if you’d like more pressure to be used.
Q. Is it okay to talk to the massage therapist during my massage?
A. You will experience the greatest benefits from your session if you just allow yourself to become quiet and relaxed...which helps your massage therapist focus on providing a great massage! Definitely communicate with your therapist if you feel any pain or discomfort, if you have any concerns during your massage, or if there is anything your massage therapist can do to make you more comfortable.
Q. I woke up with a cold today. Should I come in?
A. A massage will likely just make you feel worse. If you are sick, you may get your therapist sick and pass it on to other clients that day. Even if you are giving less than a 24 hour notice, I prefer you reschedule your appointment if you are feeling unwell, so let me know as soon as possible.
Q. I have some health concerns about receiving a massage?
A. It is very important that you inform your therapist of any medical or health related conditions, if you are taking any medications and if you have had any major or recent operations or injuries. You are advised to seek advice from your health care provider if massage is appropriate for you.
Q. What about after the massage?
A. You are encouraged to continue to relax after a massage and drink plenty of water. Sometimes after a massage you may feel tried, a little tender in places or maybe even get a headache. This is a normal response and will usually pass after a good night’s sleep. If you have any further concerns, then please feel free to contact your therapist.
Q. Do I need to shower before my massage.
A. Showering immediately before is not necessary, provided you maintain a daily hygiene routine. For example, if you showered in the morning before going to work then it is perfectly acceptable to come for you massage straight after work without having to shower again.
Q. Can I blow my nose, itch, or get up and go to the bathroom during a session?
A. Of course! I don’t want you lying there uncomfortable and preoccupied, so feel free to take care of it.
